Famed for their high-tempo, energy-draining sets, Glasgow's very own number nine dream has played alongside some of the greats of UK two-tone, Jamaican and US ska, including Bad Manners, Neville Staple, The Beat, Skaville UK, The Heptones, Toots and the Maytals, Pauline Black, Bombskare and The Toasters.
Whether you know her as Bizarre Magazine's Queen of the Battle of Burlesque 2008 or as the saucy, highland dancer who set pulses racing on Britain's Got Talent 2009, Daiquiri Dusk is one of Scotland's most recognisable burlesque stars. She has performed across the UK, as well as in Europe and the USA & has been interviewed / featured in numerous national magazines & newspapers.
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, music, and dance. Participants form a roda, or circle, and take turns either playing musical instruments (such as the Berimbau), singing, or ritually sparring in pairs in the center of the circle.
14/02/2010 - Get a food stall for Global Village 2010.
Things are already getting exciting here at Global Village Towers. An exciting lineup of acts is building for the evening; dare I say it we may even top last year's performance.
Do you fancy having a food stall for Global Village 2010? Want to put your cooking skills to the test and win prize for best food stall? Then Global Village wants to hear from you!
We are looking for groups of students who would be interested in contributing a food stall with a cultural theme such as Mexican, Indian, Austrian, Iranian etc. By no means are we expecting you to provide full meals, but rather just samples that guests can take from each stall. We will provide you with a budget of up to £40 to produce as much food as possible; so your costs are covered.
To get involved, sign up for a stall using our online booking form, and we will get back to you as soon as possible - HERE
You can also check out our attempt to cook food for 300 people last year in this video below; enjoy!
